UMEA , Sweden - Teens who eat breakfast nutrient poor
or who skip breakfast have increased developing metabolic syndrome later in
life risks.
This is demonstrated by a study conducted by researchers at the University of Umea , Sweden.
Metabolic syndrome is the presence in an individual of several factors that favor the development of type 2 diabetes or cardiovascular disease and stroke. These are factors such as a high level of triglyceride in blood , hypertension, abdomen overweight , high blood sugar , etc .
To reach these conclusions , the scientists analyzed data on a group of teenagers in 1981 and analyzed them again 27 years later . They found that those with no breakfast was not enough nourishing adolescence or skipped this meal had 68 % more likely to suffer from metabolic syndrome, compared to those who had a substantial breakfast .
" Further research is needed to better understand the link between metabolic syndrome and breakfast poor in nutrients , but our results already show that this meal has an impact on the regulation of blood sugar ," said the lead author Maria Wennberg this study .
